"I want a divorce" said Gbenga
"Fine" replied Adachi , as she stomps out of the house.
Gbenga and Adachi have been University lovers, they
graduated together and served together. Plans were made
for their wedding but along the line, Adachi's father passed
on..
Gbenga had to cater for the family, putting the wedding
plans on hold.
"I don't think its advisable we get married now, because
I'm not ready for marriage"
"Why, Gbenga asked"
"Nothing, my mum will want me around to take care of her,
now that papa has gone"
"Where is this coming from? Are you saying getting
married to me won't make you help mama?" Am I not the
one that have been taking care of your family even when
papa was alive?"

"I'm going to start up a business for you, it will go a long
way to helping you" what would you like to sell"?
"Women weavons and attachment" answered Adachi
"Consider it done"
Gbenga rented a shop for her, and filled it up so she will
be comfortable.
He really did love her and wanted her to have the best of
everything.
He reminded her of their wedding arrangements, and told
her he still wanted to get married to her, so they could
start up a new life. She insisted she wasn't ready..
Gbenga opened up to his bestfriend, Femi. And Femi in
turn advised he gets her pregnant, that it will make her
mum change her mind and speed up the wedding
arrangements..
He recalled the first day they met in school, she looked like
an angel.
She was his first and only girlfriend, they were both virgins
and they didn't have sex throughout their stay in school..
As he was from a Christian home and believed pre-marital
sex was a sin.
Gbenga persuaded Adachi to have sex with him, and she
agreed. He wanted to get her pregnant but didn't tell her.
Anyways, he opened a shop for her, one of the things he
was looking out for, was to see how she would take care of
her business. He noticed she never had a record of her
expenses and sales. She will only buy more weavons,
relaxers and all that when they were finished. To him, he
felt that wasn't the right way to do business.
He advised that she gets a book to record down her sales.
This didn't go down well with her, she got angry and left
the shop.
Adachi is beautiful yes. But she's a proof of beauty without
character. She's one proud babe and very stubborn. She
doesn't listen to ppl except her family especially a mum.
She stopped going to the shop because Gbenga advised
her on how to go about the business.
Gbenga made up his mind not to disturb her anymore. He
gave her 6months to return back to the shop or he was
going to forget about her, this he told himself.. Because he
was already fed up of her attitude.
6months passed and he made up his mind to move on..
He received a call from her...
"I'm pregnant, Gbenga, and I want to abort it"
"Whaaaaaaaat?"
"Don't you dare try it, if you do, you will see the otherside
of me" warned Gbenga
"I don't want the baby, I'm not ready for marriage now"
"Come to the house and we will talk about it, pleaded
Gbenga"
Adachi went to see him and he assured her how much he
loves and wants to spend the rest of his life with her, then
he told her to tell her mum and also make plans for
introduction.
The shocker came when Adachi's mother said she wants
her child to abort the baby. She said, she wants Adachi to
work for her money to take care of her before she thinks of
getting married..
When Adachi told Gbenga what her mum said, he didn't
believe and went to see her himself.
And she repeated it and even told him she doesn't want
them to get married.
But Gbenga insisted he must..
After weeks of argument, pleas and trying to make her see
reasons with him. She changed her mind and told him to
go to the village to see her people, Adachi's Uncle.
Gbenga left Lagos to Abia state to go see Adachi's Uncle
and Kinsmen...
He was given the list of things to buy...
Some of the list was written in igbo langauge, so he asked
for interpretation from his Igbo friends..
According to Gbenga, he said it was narrated in English but
they didn't go deep.
Anyways,
He bought some of the things on the list as he was
advised by friends not to show himself that he could afford
all..
A week to the Traditional Marriage, Adachi"s mother called
him on phone reminding him to buy a female goat... She
kept on hammering on the goat.. Even Adachi too called
him, telling him not to forget buying a goat.
He was confused. And told them, as long as money can
buy goat, he will buy it when he gets to the village...
The day of the traditional marriage...
The bride price will be paid before celebration begins.. The
kinsmen asked of the goat, Gbenga told them he forgot..
They were angry, but accepted the other things.
After the celebration, and villagers must have gone home
leaving few ppl in the compound, around 7pm. Adachi's
Uncle came with a female goat..
"There's a rite we didn't carry out because we were
looking for a female goat, we had to get this one at the
next village"
"As part of the customs of the land, in the past, strangers
(men from another state) that have come from other states
to marry our daughters here in Abia(won't mention the
local government to avoid drama), they end up killing our
daughters, to stop this, the elders of this land came up
with this rite"
"This female goat will be killed, and everyone present here
will eat the goat, the husband and wife will eat the heart of
the goat, as an oath, that none of them will try to kill the
other person" any one of them that plans to kill the other,
will have the death sent back to him/her"
Gbenga couldn't believe his ears, his parents looked at
him and he looked at his wife.
"But we were not told about this rite" said Gbenga's
father..
We didn't know about this, why will my own son try to kill
his wife? What for??
I'm a Pastor in my church, I can't allow this..
Gbenga was still in shock.. He couldn't utter any word..
"Since you are not planning to kill our daughter, then there
shouldn't be any problem eating the goat'' its our tradition.
"Sorry I can't allow it" insisted Gbenga's father..
What shocked Gbenga most was when his newly wedded
wife supported her ppl and asked that they eat the meat if
he won't kill her" she was even raising her voice loud. They
wanted leaving but were stopped by the villagers around..
They slept in the compound, Gbenga and his ppl slept in a
separate room, he couldn't sleep, and Adachi was sending
him msgs telling him to eat the meat, calling him on phone
to order him to talk to his parents. He couldn't think
straight, so he switched off his phone.
The next morning, after arguments and all, they said, water
should be used for the rites.
Adachi's uncle said somethings and the water was passed
round for all of them to drink.
Immediately that happened, the love Gbenga had for
Adachi started dropping...
They have been married for 10years now, but he can't
seem to forget what happened..
He burnt the clothes he wore on his wedding day, burnt the
video, burnt the pictures. Anytime he sees his first son he
keeps remembering what happened on his wedding day...
He hates his wife and feels he married the devil..
He felt he was duped..
He said worst is, their sexlife is zero.. She's circumcised
and they only have sex 4times a year. He hates his wife
and asked for a divorce...
She accepted but she reported him to her Pastor. And
when the Pastors met him to settle them, after they heard
the reason, they left....
He said, he feels he's in bondage..
He would have turned back if she wasn't pregnant...
This is a true life story.
I'm still shocked..
Because I know the people involved...
If I were him, I will damn the pregnancy, money spent and
leave.. But he couldn't, and he's regretting.. Says any time
he sees her, he remembers everything....
The question is,
If you were Gbenga, what would you have done???

your state, pls find out his culture.
Very important.
The local govt this lady is from, has just been black listed
by me...
