Was that a slap?... Or what?
"How could you, Uche?,, What do you take me for,,, a
whore?,,, Is this same the same Uchenwa that I got married
to?,,, What has come over you?"
.. Lizzy wondered, questioning him mournfully,,, as tears
filled up her eyes,,, and soon enough, a blink started to shed
all of it off her eyes...
Uche just sat down there, still holding his cheek, perturbed
with what just transpired.
This is the first time his darling wife would ever lay his
hands on him.
What a time to be beaten !!!
He couldn't hold back either,,, Uche started crying too.
Struggling with his breathe in a way that seems to portray a
very broken spirit.
Lizzy could now see what she has done - A very big
mistake, indeed.
Uche looked up to her and asked her why they should still
be couples when it was clear that no child was ever going to
come their way.
"Lizzy, can't you just get it?,,, I'm sterile,,, I can never be
able to make you a mother,, I know you can't do this right
now,,, and this is why I have to tell you this;"
Lizzy was getting shocked now,,, what is he talking about?
"Lizzy, please go and get yourself a true husband,,, I don't
deserve you. I'm not a man. You need a man. A father to
your children. Please, let part ways so you can marry again
ok?"..
Uchenwa begs,,, now kneeling and sobbing...
Lizzy was broken.
Her marriage was about to be over.
She turned down many men to settle for Uche,,, what would
she tell her relatives and her people.
Coupled with the fact that she was deep in love with her
husband,,, the only man that ever told her "I love you, and
meant it"...
She can't lose this battle this way.
No, she can't.
Immediately, she rushed to her kneeling hubby, on her
knees too and started begging him for forgiveness.
Rubbing her palm on his cheek and all over her face, she
assured him that all will be well again for them.
But, how can all be well with them when she doesn't look
like caving in to her husband's request?
Uche was adamant, he pressed on for Lizzy to take a
divorce and go marry a man that would make her fruitful.
Oh God !!!
Lizzy finally screamed an emphatic No to him, telling him
that if what he wants is to get impregnated by Dan,
THEN, SO BE IT.
At that pronouncement, everywhere became quiet as they
starred at eachother dumb-struck.
In the evening,
Lizzy remembered her appointment with the prophet, but
she was confused whether to honour it or not.
"How can I allow that dirty looking old man to rub anointing
oil on my private,, tufiakwa... Oma mme,,," ,, She vowed..
Still on,
She was contemplating if she wasn't missing an opportunity
of a lifetime...
Well, it has to be this way.
Lizzy, after taking a hard look at the paper scribbled with
the Prophet's phone number, decided to stay back.
Dan, on his own has been informed by his friend that Lizzy
has finally agreed to the deal.
Uchenwa seemed happy on the phone, but Dan had to now
realise what he was getting into, finally.
His wife, Blessing wouldn't have that.
She is a proud mother of Ekene, her only son - Her husband
had already a twin from another woman before she married
him.
So while Blessing has just a son,, Dan had three children.
Seeing her moody husband was not a good sight for her.
"What is the matter, dear?",,, she asks,,
Blessing is one caring woman that Dan always thanked his
God for.
But, what is in his mind now cannot be for his darling wife's
consumption.
He smiled it away and told her it was nothing but just a little
stress, while he asked her to bring him some paracetamol
tablets to take for relief..
This is indeed a hard decision,,, but since it's been paid for,
and it was his best friend,,, there was no going back.
Days later,
Uchenwa and Lizzy had gone to the hospital with Dan, so as
to determine the date in which Lizzy can conceive when she
mates.
The agreement was a three month trial.
They will keep trying it for 3 months.
The doctor had a big job in his hands, using the
# Billings_Method
but finally, he was able to draw out fertility dates that Dan
would have to sleep with his bestfriend's wife, so she can
get pregnant.
It was meant to be a secret.
Even the doctor didn't know what has been hatched.
This world is indeed, deep.
The days passed by...
As they kept waiting for the doctor's date.
Lizzy wasn't comfortable with the idea,, but what can she
do?
As for Dan,
Poooph !!!
He will give another man a child while he watches his seed
grow without knowing that he owns it?
Doesn't it look weird?
The D-day was friday,
And the doctor had instructed them that the intercourse
would have to happen in the morning before 9.am.
Starlight guest house was the meeting place, once again.
Lizzy has already arrived at the venue before 7.00 am, at
the instance of her desperate hubby .
But Dan was still no where to be found.
Oh No...
What could he be thinking?
